For the two years that I’ve been living by myself and subsequently cooking for myself, I’ve always been super intimidated by cooking meat. There doesn’t seem like much you can do without a grill to me, unless you want to make a casserole of some sort, and even then I don’t really know many recipes for that. However, I love chicken and steak and all sort of meats, that I’ve always wanted to learn.
Luckily, I have friends who are great cooks, and by watching them, I’ve learned a few things, or at least felt adventurious enough to try things on my own. So that is what I did last week, when I realized I had some chicken in my freezer that was just dying to be eaten.
With the help of Mrs. Dash (love that lady!) I was able to season my chicken with the grilled seasonings, fry it up on my stove, sautee it with some yummy veggies, and come up with a great meal.
I should have cooked the veggies a little longer, but now I know for next time. Moral of this story: never be afraid to try new things. If it comes out horribly, at least you’ve learned something for next time. And in no time, you’ll be the friend who everyone wishes they could cook as good as. At least I think… I haven’t quite made it to that status yet!
